Boscombe
Salvation Army Community Shop is a valuable part of our Church outreach.
The proceeds from goods donated to the shop are used through the Salvation
Army centre in Boscombe to assist our outreach into the local community.
The
Boscombe Savation Army Community Shop "Here for You", is managed
by Nigel Bishop. Nigel is also responsible for the Corps' multi-media
ministry during Sunday services and on other occasions. He is readily
assisted on a daily basis by Audrey Barker and throughout the week by
numerous volunteers. The Community Shop can be found at 695-697
Christchurch Road, Boscombe and contacted on: (01202)

The
main use for the vehicle is to provide a mobile unit for distributing
food and drink to those in need in the Bournemouth area. For those people
living rough in our area, the Army Emergency Services minibus is a welcome
sight as it means not only something warm to eat, but also an ear that
is willing to listen to their problems and offer guidance and advice.
Boscombe Salvation Army uses the minibus on Friday nights for our 'Meal
Run' in Bournemouth Town Centre which is manned on a rotational basis
by 3 or 4 volunteers every week.
Boscombe Salvation Army is
fortunate to have a wonderfully versatile building complex. All the
available rooms and halls within the building are used for a variety
of purposes and events. At maximum congregation capacity, this hall
seats approximatey 450 people. The 'Platform' area usually seats the
featured group(s) or is used as a staging area for items such as a Nativity
scene at Christmas or the usual Sunday groups featured e.g. the Corps
Band and Songsters.
The first three pictures on the left are of the 'Main Hall'. This hall
is used every week for the main services at Boscombe Salvation Army.
It is also a popular venue for special Army events such as music
festivals, but is also used for events associated with the army and
other associated organisations.
Primarily though, the 'Main Hall' is a place of worship and continues
to be a place where people can be in the presence of the Lord whilst
sharing it with friends and family.
The next picture is of the 'Young Peoples Hall'. This hall is also used
every Sunday as a place for the young people of Boscombe Salvation Army
to meet.
The Y.P. Hall is possibly the most frequently used hall within the building.
As well as its Sunday use, the Y.P. Hall is in use most days of the
week (see 'Weekly Activities' for events). Mainly used by young people,
the Y.P. Hall has featured events including quiz nights, discos, parties,
fellowship and much more.
The last picture features the 'Community Hall'. This hall hosts many
activities during the week including 'Parents and Toddlers', 'Art Class'
(pictured), Primary (Sunday toddlers) and many others.
These afore mentioned halls are the main rooms used during the week, but
these are supported by others, including:
- a kitchen
- Band and Songster
rooms
- a 'Cry Room' (for babies during services)
- offices
- multiple toilet facilities (disabled included)
- a foyer entrance
