Boscombe
Home League (ladies meeting) meet every Thursday in our community Hall.
Coffee, tea and refreshments are available from 10.30am with the meeting starting
at 11am until 12noon. Fortnightly
there is a Bible Fellowship from 12.30 - 1.30pm.
There is a varied programme
of events which include guest speakers, outings, coffee mornings,
parties, seasonal topics, members mornings, autions, quiz mornings
and visits to the annual Rally at Fareham.
The Home League
Singers sing every week in the meeting and practice every
Thursday morning at 9.30am. We also have a Timbrel Group
that functions on an occasional basis.
The Home League raise money
every year for the Territorial Helping Hand scheme which in 2004 was
called 'Barefoot Doctors' to help China. Boscombe Home League have
raised £1,500 which is sent via Divisional Headquarters to London
for distribution. In addition to that, some of the ladies have knitted
garments for babies and children for the 'Baby Chest' which also goes
via headquarters.
On the first Thursday in
December each year (at 2pm), we hold our community carol service in
the main hall to which everyone is invited. This is becoming a popular
event which features the Home League Singers,
Ladies Fellowship Singers,
Bournemouth Area Fellowship Band and guest
soloists.
