Boscombe Corps Carol Service
The Boscombe Salvation Army Carol Service 2012 was recorded for broadcast on Premier Radio and included a wide range of participants including 30 timbrelists consisting of members past and present, a cornet/trombone fanfare and real donkeys as part of the nativity!

Boscombe Young People's Carol Service
The Boscombe Young People's Carol Service 2012 featured all YP sections, the primary (youngest members of our church family) and the theme was jingle bells, jelly and Jesus. The Sunday school had prepared a sketch followed by several items from the YP sections and lots of carol singing for the congregation.

Soloist Evening
The Sunday concert took the form of a soloist evening featuring Boscombe musical sections and many soloist from both junior and senior sections. Those present thoroughly enjoyed the items presented.

Remembrance Day 2012
Remembrance Day 2012 saw Boscombe Salvation Army Band once again provide the music for the Bournemouth remembrance service at Bournemouth cenotaph. The evening once again took the form of 'A Night to Remember'. The evening featured all musical sections, soloists and timbrels. The evening gave all present the opportunity to donate money towards the charity 'Help for Heroes'.

Partnership fundraising concert for Samaritan's Purse
A special fundraising evening was arranged by Songster Joy Cox for the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal. Joy is a volunteer at the Christchurch warehouse for Samaritan's Purse. The concert featured Boscombe Salvation Army Young People's Band, Songsters and Timbrels. The evening featured an appeal by Peter and Eileen Ivermee who run the Christchurch warehouse. The appeal was highlighting the work of the Operation Christmas Child appeal, which delivers shoe boxes prepared by members of the public in the UK to deprived and disadvataged communities around the world to give needy children a Christmas gift. The evening raised over £500 and each person present was given the chance to take an empty shoebox home and encouraged to fill it for the appeal. The evening was attended by The Mayor of Christchurch Councillor Peter Hall and his wife.

Harvest of the sea celebrations
This year Boscombe SA celebrated 'harvest of the sea'. The meetings led by Corps Officers Majors Ray and Carelle Begley featured all musical sections. The hall was decorated with a display which included a boat! Many of the items on display had been loaned to the corps by fishermen from Mudeford Quay. The evening celebration gave the corps chance to say farewell to Cadet Luke Reading as he heads for the training college to enter the 'Disciples of the cross' session. Luke was presented with several gifts to take with him to the training college.

Boscombe Band took part in the annual churches songs of praise at Keyhaven, Lymington. This year the weather was hot and sunny, brining out a good congregation to enjoy the songs of praise.

Major Val Mylechreest runs with the Olympic Torch
Major Val Mylechreest's commitment to community projects in the local area led to her being nominated to be a torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay. Major Val ran her 300 metres (uphill!) through Corfe Castle. She was cheered on by many family and friends from Boscombe Salvation Army. Major Val passed the Olympic torch on to the next torchbearer outside the former home of Commander Bill Collins, who was chief organizer of the 1948 Olympic Torch Relay, in Corfe Village.

Farewell to Majors Peter and Valerie Mylechreest
Boscombe Salvation Army said farewell to Majors Peter and Val Mylechreest after 7 years of ministry at the corps. The morning meeting was themed 'passing the baton'. The evening meeting was a celebration and also saw the retirement from active service of Major Peter Mylechreest after 44 years. The retirement was led by Lt. Col Ian Barr. Major Peter was presented with an Apple iPad from the corps for his retirement. All senior and Junior sections took part in the celebration which featured several words of thanks from various groups within the corps. The Primary and YP corps also said 'goodbye' in their own way through video presentations. The meetings were attended by many who are not regular attenders and for some it was their first time at a Salvation Army meeting. The day concluded with a faith supper which gave people an opportunity to catch up and say goodbye.

New commitments at Boscombe Salvation Army
This special Sunday at Boscombe Salvation army saw Samuel Smith enroled as a Junior Soldier and Catherine Starkes enroled as a Senior Soldier. Samuel read the Junior Soldiers promise before being enroled by Major Val Mylechreest, he was then presented with a children's bible by his prayer partner Jess Thompson. He was supported by Young People's Sergeant Major Julie Forsyth and had lots of visting family and friends. Catherine had chosen her favourite singing company, band and songster music for the meeting, she also gave her testimony and was supported by many family and friends. The meeting also included a moment for the congregation to pray for Al Wood as he embarked on a trip to Ukraine. Major Peter Mylechreest presented him with a leather bound bible to take on his trip.

Boscombe Band at Burley Christian Festival
Boscombe Band were invited to take part at the first Burley (New Forest) christian festival. The band provided the music for the songs of praise which bought the day to a close. The festival provided activities for the whole family with several local churches involved. Hope FM and Park Radio were broadcasting live from the festival held at Manor Park in Burley village. The songs of praise was led by Rev. Angela Gammon from St John the Baptist church, Burley.

Pasadena Youth Chorus at Boscombe SA
The Pasadena youth chorus or 'Tab youth chrous' as they are known presented a concert at Boscombe Salvation Army as part of their 'Glorious' tour through Finland, Estonia and England. The group conducted by Barbara Allen are all aged between 13-30 and are about 65 in number and all attend the Pasadena Tabernacle Salvation Army in California, USA.

YP Anniversary and Fathers Day celebrations
This years YP anniversary evening meeting took the form of an outdoor concert. The young people presented numerous items before everyone tucked into a BBQ to celebrate Fathers day!

A new Junior Soldier at Boscombe Salvation Army
Jubilee Sunday saw the enrolment of a new Junior Soldier at Boscombe Salvation Army. Isabelle Ohameje was enroled by Major Peter Mylechreest and supported by Norma Lingley who is part of the Sunday School team. Isabelle was presented with a children's bible as part of her enrolment.

Boscombe Songsters visit Exeter
Boscombe Songsters visited Exeter to give a Saturday evening concernt. Prior to the evening concert the songsters gave an open air at Exeter quayside which is renowned for being very popular with locals and visitors to the area. The evening programme was well attended and well received by the congregation.

Boscombe SA Easter Convention 2012
This years Easter Convention was led by special guest leaders Majors Paul and Jenine Main, with guest musical section Staines Songsters. The convention ran from Thursday to Sunday, starting with an evening of meditation with Boscombe Band and Songsters for Maundy Thursday. Good Friday services featured both YP sections and senior sections. The Saturday night took the form of an ''Easter Saturday'' concert, led by Staines Songsters under the leadership of Samantha Turner. Easter Sunday saw a march of witness and open air in Bournemouth Gardens.

Boscombe SA Band visit Reading Lower Earley
Boscombe SA Band visited Reading Lower Earley corps to present a Saturday evening concert. The evening included a wide variety of different music and soloists as well as a section at the latter end of the second half preparing the listening congregation for Easter.

A real family mothers day at Boscombe Salvation Army
This mothers day saw the dedication of William Main (Junior) and the enrolment of his older cousin Tom Nock as a senior soldier, both by their Grandfather Lt. Colonel William Main. The morning service was led by Lt. Colonels William and Sylvia Main (R) and also included the presentation of flowers to mothers.

Chelmsford Songsters visit Boscombe SA
Chelmsford Songsters visited Boscombe SA for the weekend. The Saturday night saw Chelmsford songsters present a concert with the support of Boscombe Band. The second half of the evening took the form of a 'Gowans and Larsson' tribute. The songsters led Sunday worship supported by Boscombe YP sections and Boscombe Band.
