The BH1 Project Mission Statement:
"The BH1 Community Project is run by Boscombe Salvation Army. It aims primarily to serve and support the local community and residents in Boscombe extending to those who share the BH1 postcode.
Our team of committed staff and volunteers, operating out of 107 Palmerston Road, intend to improve the local quality of life by providing a cafe style meeting place with domestic and recreational facilities where locals can engage in meaningful activities, learning and support.
We aim to deliver practical help and safe friendship to ALL those who need it irrespective of their background."
Primary functions of the BH1 Project:
To meet an immediate, basic human need...
Helping individuals with: getting warm, getting clean (on site shower facility and washing machines) getting fed (basic hot food and light refreshments) and, where possible getting a change of clothes.
To provide an inclusive and safe social environment...
Providing somewhere warm and safe to go, where people feel welcomed and included.
To offer recreational facilities...
Such as board games, table tennis and snooker.
To offer structured activities, learning and support...
Training, Workshops and learning sessions which include:
Group Activities, a Job Centre approved work club and a Citizens
Advice Bureau drop in clinic - all at 107.
Involvement and participation with partner organisations...
The BH1 Project will share links, promotion and partnerships
with other local organisations which adds value to the BH1 Project
and relationship builds with other churches, secular and non-secular
organisations.
