Salvation Army Emergency Services "Meal run"
The
Salvation Army in Bournemouth is very fortunate to have its own
Emergency Services vehicle which provides a mobile unit for distributing
food and drink to those in need in the Bournemouth area. For those
people living rough in our area, the Army Emergency Services minibus
is a welcome sight as it means not only something warm to eat, but
also an ear that is willing to listen to them and offer guidance
and advice. The unit is also used to help support local emergency
services when the need arises.
Boscombe Salvation Army uses the minibus on Friday nights
for our 'Meal Run' in Bournemouth Town Centre which is manned on
a rotational basis by 3 or 4 volunteers every week.
Viv Smith is responsible for this area of outreach and is always
willing to receive volunteeers who are willing to go on 'the run'
itself as a member of one of the teams or to help prepare food before
hand. For more information please click here.
