Boscombe Young People’s Band and Singing Company
The Young People’s Corps includes our own Young People’s (brass) Band led by Bandleader Fraser Smith and our Singing Company (junior choir) led by Katie Whittingham. The Y.P. musical sections take part in Sunday services as well as Sunday evening Celebrations and special events.
Both groups have been privileged to have undertaken tours over the last few decades. For the Singing Company, this included a tour of Northern England in the late 80s and in 1992 a highly successful tour of Sweden, followed two years later with a tour of Scotland.
The Y.P. Band undertook a tour of Romania in 1993 and was the first Salvation Army section to visit that country after the fall of communism. 2008 was the centenary of Boscombe Y.P. Band, the first commissioned Y.P. Band in the United Kingdom Territory. Why not watch a video of them playing here.
At Christmas you may come across our kids musical groups around the Bournemouth area when carolling either individually or when taking part in carol services (such as Saxon Square in Christchurch, pictured). We also have a Junior Timbrels group (tambourines) which present their routines on special occasions, they always receive a great response from the audience!
